The Room Review

Do you like puzzles? Do you like puzzles with no clear clue as to how to figure it out? Do you also like confusing stories? Well that is The Room.

I’ve been wanting to play this game since I saw it on the Google Play store app on my tablet. Unfortunately I had no money on my account and didn’t feel like putting on money on it just to play this game. Luckily The Room is on Steam and I got it during the Steam Halloween sale.

The Room sets you off in a room with a giant box that is riddled with puzzles. The game is simple. It is a freakin’ game of puzzles. Look under your chairs! You get a puzzle! You get a puzzle! EVERYONE GETS A PUZZLE!!

Since it was originally on the iOS systems, the upgrade to the PC is pretty good. Graphics looks like PC graphics (as PC as it gets… I’m a console gamer so what do I know). Although controls are wonky at times. You can tell it was a iOS game. Turning keys and the screen is a complete struggle with a mouse (I used my laptop mouse and it was pain on my index finger).

As I said before, it’s really hard to figure out what to do next. Usually when you get an item, you kind of get what to do with it. But at times, I’m stumped as to what to do next. I had to use a walkthrough to get through this game. Then again, I always use a walkthrough with puzzle games (Professor Layton would not want me as an assistant).

The game has four chapters and an epilogue. It’s not really a long game when you know what to do or have a walkthrough on hand. I have clocked about two hours on this game and I’m on the epilogue.

I do recommend this game to fellow puzzle lovers, just get use to the mouse controls… Especially on a laptop.
